Skill development for the preschool age child has become the cornerstone for the school year. The Missouri Early Learning Standards are incorporated throughout the curriculum for children 3 years through pre-k.
Horizon Club is our program for children who are in kindergarten through 5th grade. We offer both a before and after school program as well as a summer program for these children.
For the summer months, a summer day camp, which is unique to the community, has been developed. This day camp for all ages focuses on Christian values of helping children learn positive friendship skills.
The school aged summer camp will be set to the theme of “Cruising into the HORIZON, Around the World”. The children will participate in several weekly field trips also known as “Shore Excursions”. The children will “travel” the world by “Cruise Ship”. There will be different weekly country “Ports of Call” explored as well as days at the facility also known as “Days at Sea”. During “Days at Sea”, the children will learn about cultures around the world. They will participate in “On Board” cooking activities, enjoy games/ game show days, sports activities, science activities, move and groove to all kinds of music, treasure hunts, participate in leadership activities as well as have special visitors come to visit throughout the summer.
The preschool – Pre-K summer camp will be set to the theme of “STEPPING into Make Believe”. The children will explore a different Disney, Pixar, Nickelodeon or other animated movie theme each week. They will go back in time with older movies and will work their way through the summer to more recent movies. The children will learn about the environment where each movie takes place, participate in arts and crafts, math, science, and literacy activities. Each week the children will dance and sing their way through the weekly movie theme songs and dress up as their favorite character. The preschool summer camp will also participate in a few field trips throughout the summer and have a few visitors come to school.
